Marienplatz, located 1 km to the east of Munich’s main railway station.

Another favorite among tourists is Hofbräuhaus, about 200 m from Marienplatz.

A highlight also is the Natural Science & Engineering Museum (Deutsches Museum), about 2 km from Marienplatz. It shows among others the labs of Albert Einstein, Otto Hahn, Justus v. Liebig, Max Planck and the first rocket (V2) ever built.

The BMW Museum, located near the Olympic Park, showcases the rich history of BMW with classic cars, motorcycles, and concept vehicles. It is about 6 km from Munich’s main railway station and easily accessible by subway (~9 minutes).

The Schloss Neuschwanstein, about 120 km from Munich, is a fairy-tale castle commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Perched above the village of Hohenschwangau, it is famous for its romantic architecture and alpine views, and even inspired Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle. The castle is accessible by train and bus from Munich in roughly 2.5 hours.
